Hurley
Bob Hurley started shaping surfboards in Costa Mesa, California in the late seventies. In the early eighties Bob obtained the U.S. licensing rights for a hot new up-and-coming Australian clothing company called Billabong. From the early eighties up until late nineties the talented team of designers, artists, production crew, sales and marketing at the 1945 Placentia location built the Billabong brand into a household name.
In 1998, the Hurley team decided not to renew their licensing contact with Billabong Australia and instead launch a new brand called “Hurley”. At the time of the Hurley team departure from Billabong, annual sales had amassed into a reported 90 million dollars.
With tremendous vision and laser like focus the Hurley crew was able to, not only launch the new Hurley brand, but create an instant following due to their years of hard work in the surf and action sports industry. Today Hurley keeps gaining momentum worldwide thanks in part to the talented nucleus located at 1945 Placentia in Costa Mesa. |
