VESTAL INFLUECE: 1977
Vestal has focused on an important time in the history of the music that influences us: 1977 THE YEAR OF UK PUNK
In January 1977 Andrew Czezowski, an accountant for Vivienne Westwood’s boutiques, convinced the owners of a discotheque in Covent Garden London to rent him the bankrupt club Chaguaramas. The club Chags was re labeled the Roxy and became the first permanent punk venue, allowing the musical revolution a platform to spread into the populous. It’s impact was shot, lasting less than one hundred days, but similar to most of the songs played by the bands its influence was quick and hard hitting. The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Generation X, Subway Sect, The Buzzcocks and many others frequented the stage at the Roxy, The punk revolution had begun.
Throughout our collection you will see the influence of this important era in music. Punks do-it-yourself attitude can be seen in many of the pieces. We have taken accidental treatments and made them into intentional styles. The names and artwork of many of our new pieces pay respect to people, places, and events of this important time. |
